What happened today
Iyer said some fans post lines such as “We searched for gold and lost a diamond,” linking the reaction to KKR’s past decision to retain him and release Gill. That comment is the main reason his name is being searched today.
The issue has drawn attention because it mixes an old IPL squad decision with a current social media reaction that has kept resurfacing for years.
Why the KKR decision matters
Iyer said he has faced “a lot of hate” for a long time, and that comments about Gill’s success keep coming back after each big score. The reports also say the criticism reached him in two separate waves: when Gill was released and when Shreyas Iyer was not chosen and the available money was spent on him.
What the reports say about the timeline
The social media reaction is also part of the search interest. Fans on KKR pages are said to have revived the “diamond and gold” line, making this a recurring online debate about team selection, player success, and fan blame.
What to watch next
The next thing to watch is the full Baith & Bol episode, where Iyer’s complete comments may add more context. Until then, the verified facts are limited to the teaser and the news reports published on 6 November 2026.
If the full interview is released, it may clarify how he views the trolling and whether he expands on the two episodes of criticism he described. For now, the trend is mainly about his remarks on Gill, KKR, and the way old auction decisions keep returning online.
